The name is spoken, then the letter sound, then the child is given the opportunity to "draw" the letter with their finger by tracing the letter on the screen…they get to see their results! They can try this as many times as they want, just shaking the iphone will erase their efforts and allow them to try again. I love that it actually traces the letter for you first so that your child gets a chance to see the correct order of strokes.
The games are great! Once the child has completed the first sequence of letter groupings, they get to try this game out. A sound is read and the child gets to try to choose the right letter from the on-screen keyboard. They also get to hear the sound of the letter they choose. This continues until they've sounded out a whole word! It's great because you hear the individual letter sounds, then the sounds consecutively once they've been correctly chosen, then you hear the whole word blended.
