Teachers are starved for help and the best way to ensure your child is getting the education they need and deserve is to volunteer in their classroom and be an active part of their daily educational environment.

There are many different programs available to help you get involved with your child. The Art Masterpiece program is one great way to be a part of your childs education. For several months, a parent volunteer will come to a classroom every other week and discuss a particular piece of art. They offer training if required for the parents and materials for each piece are supplied in advance. Not only are you a popular distraction to the students, you supply them with a taste of cultural experience that the teacher otherwise would not have time or opportunity to expose them to. For more information, contact the Mesa Public Schools Art Masterpiece Program.

Another way to get involved is to suggest ideas you might have on how to save the district money. Visit their online suggestions form at A Better Way.

1) Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) or school booster clubs – plans activities and raises funds for the school

2) School Improvement Advisory Council (SIAC) – advises the principal on school issues

3) Curriculum committee – reviews and select textbooks for adoption).

4) Community Curriculum Advisory Panel (CCAP) – reviews curriculum-related proposals and make recommendations to the Superintendent.
